Animation Academy July 13-17
Greetings Animation Academy "Day Camper" participants and parents!
We are incredibly excited to host such a talented group of young voices in Bloomington this summer and provide a wonderful experience to help you further your passion and create a tight-knit network of friendships as you explore animation.
To make the most of your week, we stress that you must read this page thoroughly.
First, please ensure that the three required e-forms linked below are filled out and submitted by a parent or guardian before registration on Sunday or we cannot allow your child to attend.
The required forms can all be found here.
DROP-OFF/PICK-UP
Drop-off/Check-In
Monday, July 13th between 8:30-9am EST
Franklin Hall (601 E Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington, IN 47405)
See the downloadable maps which show information about parking near Franklin Hall. For parking situations where it is going to just be a few minutes, you can find street parking available, use the Poplars Garage (Park Mobile app is used for payment code "44400"), or park in an EM-S/EM-P permit-spot since it will only be a few minutes. In the unlikely event you get a ticket during those few minutes, just let us know and we will get it expunged.
Check in will be in the Commons, which is most easily accessed through large oak double doors at the south entrance. If you are approaching from Indiana Ave, they are to the left after passing through the Sample Gates. Staff will be waiting at the entrance to the building between 8:30-9am. Please make sure you leave enough time on day-one for check-in and that the three forms linked above are completed before you arrive.
The lead instructor, Gaby Benninghoff will meet you at the south entrance to Franklin Hall, which are the large wooden double doors by the Ernie Pyle statue. When you arrive, there will be another pre-college program going on near the entrance with lots of students. If you have trouble finding her on the first morning, you can directly coordinating with Gaby by calling/texting her. Here is an image of her so you know who to look for:

*Should you realize you will be arriving late, call Nora, the Assistant Director, at (812) 327-0930 to inform her. If you are unable to reach her, you can call Gaby or Andrew, the Program Director, at (812) 856-8083.Daily Pick-up
Monday through Thursday, students will be concluding each day at Franklin Hall in the Game Lab (Room 035) at 5pm. They will be escorted to the main entrance of Franklin Hall for easy pickup. You may either enter the building and pick them up from the classroom, or you may wait for them at the Sample Gates. There will be staff waiting with the campers there until 5:30pm. Please do your best to ensure your student is accounted for as promptly as possible. If you are unable to arrive by 5:30 to pick up your child, please email cineacad@iu.edu or call Nora or Andrew.
If you live/work nearby and you would like your student to walk on their own at the end of the day, please fill out the additional consent form on our forms page. We will not allow campers to leave on their own without your prior written consent.
Pick-up/Finale Event
Friday, July 17th, from 5:15-6pm EST
Franklin Hall - Commons (601 E Kirkwood Ave. Bloomington, IN 47405)
The finale event will take place in the Franklin Hall Commons. Staff will be at the south entrance to greet you and guiding you in the right direction. Students will get to present their projects to friends and family. Parking and other direction maps can be found here.
You will be picking up your student directly after the showcase.
MEALS
Lunch
Campers will be eating lunch at the Wright Quad Food Court (a 0.8 mile, 15 to 20 minute walk from Franklin Hall). Each student will be given a meal card that allows them access to the dining hall. Meals are all-you-care-to-eat, so there won’t be any issue of running out of money.
Food Allergies/Dietary Restrictions
If you didn't list them on your registration form, please email us about any food allergies or dietary restrictions we need to be aware of. This information will affect the snacks we provide.
Generally, there is plenty of food to accommodate all diet types. An RPS Registered Dietician will be on staff, so please feel free to contact them prior to the session for specific dietary discussions. Customers with life-threatening allergies should use caution. Request to speak with the chef at dining locations to prepare food in allergen-free areas for your specific dietary needs.
THINGS TO BRING
- Umbrella and/or Poncho - Indiana weather is unpredictable and walking in the rain may be unavoidable. The walks between buildings are typically 15-20 minutes.
