What to bring
Get prepared for the Cinema Academy with this packing list. Keep in mind that you'll be walking from the residence hall to the classroom (10-15 minutes) with all your belongings Friday, so limit yourself to a manageble amount.
- Clothes for the week
- Toiletries
- Shampoo and shower soap – the dorm does not provide these
- Shower shoes
- Alarm clock (either on phone or standalone device) – the overnight counselor will help get the campers up on time, but it's helpful for each camper to have their own means of waking up
- Medication-in addition to prescription medication, if there are over-the-counter medications that you commonly take (allergies, migraines etc) it is recommended that you bring these with you
- Rain gear – it is not uncommon to have rain during camp, so please pack a poncho or umbrella for when we will be walking outside.
- Notebook and pens/pencils
- Small fan and blanket – The dorm rooms are air-conditioned. The temperatures are set based on broad university HVAC settings, and the rooms lack individual controls. Sometimes students end up being a bit cold or warm, so we advise being prepared for either situation.
- Laptop computer (optional) – We will provide computers for the daily sessions, but if your child wants to work on their projects in the evenings at the residence hall, they may want to bring a personal computer to use. However, most campers choose to take a break in the evenings.
- Pillow
Linens (bedsheets, pillowcase, and two towels) are provided. The towels are meant to last the week. Laundry has an additional charge.
